Reinventing photo booth
for the connected world

CHALLENGE

Photo booths haven't changed much since they appeared in 1925, though the world of taking photos certainly has. Who doesn't have a camera on their mobile phone these days, complete with a photo booth app? So how could the Virtuo, a SmartJuke, provide a photo booth experience people would be willing to pay for—not just as an occasional novelty—but as a fun thing to do on any evening out?

SOLUTION

With its 26-inch touchscreen, flashing bezel, and LED zipper, the Virtuo is uniquely designed for social performance and entertainment. It's also smart. It can know who you are and where you are, not to mention your favorite drink and song. And it can upload and display any photo it takes to any screen within TouchTunes' interactive network—even a billboard in Times Square.

Building on these unique features, our team defined a new, high-quality, social photo booth experience and product. In addition to smart camera technologies, like face recognition, QR code scanning, and background detection, the experience leverages custom backgrounds, graphics, and image filters. To make it easy for people to share and manage their photos, it includes a printer and website, connects to social platforms, and is supported by cloud services and storage. Along with defining the new experience and product, our team developed its brand strategy and naming.

RESULTS

The PhotoBooth experience on the TouchTunes Virtuo is currently available in more than 8,000 venues. The availability of this feature, now offered for free by TouchTunes, continues to drive the TouchTunes Virtuo as the premier entertainment platform for bars and restaurants.
